Wood

wood design

Wood is probably of the oldest material used by mankind. It is defined "a warm material". Wood's grains and veneers create pleasing and aesthetically appealing natural motifs.

Rocks and Stones

rocks and stones

Stone has been used since the Stone Age, and it is still widely used as a surface veneer for its practical and expressive qualities.

Marbles and Granites

marbles and granites

Marble and granite materials were used for the construction of some of the famous structures from the history of the Ancient world. Today are used principally for buildings and monuments, interior decoration, statuary, table tops, and novelties.

Chalk, Plaster, Stucco and Cement

plaster and stucco

Construction mortars are composed by various elements and have different functions in architecture and design. Plaster is composed by chalk and glue, while concrete is composed by cement, rocks and a particular type of mortar.

Concrete

concrete

Largely used in modern architecture, concrete is a compound material made from sand, gravel and cement. The cement is a mixture of various minerals which when mixed with water, hydrate and rapidly become hard binding the sand and gravel into a solid mass.

Metals

metal design

Metals have extraodinary characteristics such as ductility, excellent conductivity and very high densities. They are divided into more specific classes: ferrous and non ferrous, special alloy, noble metals etc..

Glass

glass design

Natural glass has existed since the beginnings of time, formed when certain types of rocks melt as a result of high-temperature phenomena such as volcanic eruptions. Glass objects are shiny and have the power to multiply light and colors.

Ceramics

ceramic tiles

Ceramics are used for art objects and decorations as well as floor and walls covering. Ceramics are inorganic non-metallic materials. Porcelain, glass, bricks and refractory materials are examples of traditional ceramics.

Plastics

plastics

Plastic materials are economic, colourful, easy to mould, insulating, resistant to biological agents and easy to produce. These materials are the symbols of modern and contemporary popular art as well as mass consumption issues.

Resins

resins

Resins are a particular type of plastic materials used in contemporary interior design and architecture floor and walls covering. Their lustrous look is astonishing and captiving. Like plastics, its applications are symbol of kitsch and pop styles.

Fabrics

fabrics

Fabrics are mostly used for human clothes. Just as a human dresses up, a chair or an interior design can be dressed with many different types of fabric. Furnishing elements like pillows, carpets, tapestries, curtains enrich an ambient design with softness, delicacy and warming feeling.

Eco-friendly

eco friendly

Eco-friendly are the materials used for Eco-design. This is a quite vast area of design, since a lot of old material (like woods, stones and glass) or modern materials (like alluminium and titanium) can be considered as ecologic materials. However the most important feature of these types of materials is their possibility to be recycled many times.
